The Franklin
A large three-way speaker, built with nostalgia in mind, with the electronics they didn't have then.
A tribute to a different era
Big cabinets and big bass drivers used to matter for a reason. In the 1970s, generous enclosure volume and a properly sized woofer were the difference between a speaker that played music and one that filled a room with it. The Franklin takes that idea and rebuilds it with fifty years of driver and amplifier development behind it.
Three drivers, one job each
A 12" SB34NRXL75-8 woofer does the heavy lifting - deep, controlled, tuneful bass from a bass-reflex cabinet tuned to 28Hz.
Midrange is handled separately, by a 4" paper-cone SB12MNRX25-4 covering 680Hz to 3kHz. Low moving mass and high efficiency give it the clarity a dedicated midrange driver is supposed to deliver.
At the top, a 1" soft-dome SB26STAC-C000-4 die-cast aluminium faceplate, optimised rear chamber, full copper cap - hands over cleanly where the midrange leaves off.
Passive or active
Franklin F3WP -passive crossover, same topology across both handover points. Pair with a quality Amplifier 50-250 Watts
Franklin F3WA - active, with a Hypex Ncore NPA250-8 three-channel plate amplifier (250W LF / 125W MF / 125W HF), onboard DSP, and Linkwitz-Riley 4th-order crossovers. Every driver gets its own amplifier channel and its own correction.
Specifications
Dimensions: 725mm H × 455mm W × 403mm D
Sensitivity: 87dB
Impedance: 6Ω
Max SPL: 108dB
Bass tuning: 28Hz
Crossover points: 680Hz / 3,000Hz
Where Tasmanian timber meets uncompromising sound.
